KINABATANGAN, SABAH – Borneo Samudera Sdn. Bhd. (BSSB), a subsidiary of Sawit Kinabalu, has further strengthened its commitment to conservation through the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF), held at the Sg. Pin Conservation Area (SPnCA) on 2 October 2025. The MoU, originally signed in April, marks a significant step forward in enhancing collaborative efforts for wildlife conservation and sustainable landscape management.
The event was honourably attended by Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof, Secretary General of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, who expressed strong support for collaborative efforts in safeguarding endangered orangutans while promoting sustainable industry practices.

Under this partnership, Borneo Samudera continues to conserve 2,632 hectares of High Conservation Value (HCV) forest at SPnCA, which is home to approximately 55 orangutans. MPOGCF has committed RM20,000 in support of conservation activities under the Orangutan Diplomacy Programme, including an updated orangutan population study with NGO Hutan.
Datuk Victor Ationg, Managing Director of Sawit Kinabalu, stated:
“SPNCA shows that sustainable palm oil development and biodiversity conservation can thrive side by side. This MoU reinforces our dedication to both.”

Also present at the MoU exchange were MPOC Chief Executive Officer Belvinder Sron, SKG Green CEO Philipa Datuk Wilfred Mojilis, and MPOGCF General Manager Hairulazim Mahmud.
This collaboration affirms Borneo Samudera’s ongoing role in supporting Sabah’s leadership in sustainable palm oil and environmental stewardship.
