KOTA KINABALU: Conservation & Biodiversity Unit (CBU), represented by Mdm Rashidah Maqbool, was honoured to participate in the IUCN Green List Malaysia Day, held from 19–20 May 2025 at Horizon Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. The event was hosted by the Expert Assessment Group for the Green List (EAGL) Malaysia and WWF-Malaysia.

This national gathering brought together Green List practitioners from across the country to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and strengthen the Green List community through engaging World Café-style sessions and collaborative discussions.

For Sawit Kinabalu Group, this marks a significant milestone in our journey towards achieving international recognition for the Sungai Pin Conservation Area (SPnCA), the first conservation site in Malaysia managed by an oil palm company to actively pursue IUCN Green List status. We are proud to share our commitment to this goal, with the aim of achieving Green Listed status by 2028.

The event was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Amran Hamzah, IUCN Regional Vice Chair for Southeast Asia, who delivered the closing remarks and outlined the strategic way forward for Green List implementation in the region.

We’re inspired and motivated by the collective efforts of conservation leaders nationwide and remain committed to protected area excellence.
