KINABATANGAN: From the 6th to 9th of March 2025, a filming session was conducted with the Majalah 3 crew from TV3. This initiative was part of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities’ ongoing efforts to promote Sg Pin Conservation Area (SPnCA) as a key site for the Orangutan Diplomacy initiative, spearheaded by the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF).

The Orangutan Diplomacy initiative aims to strengthen conservation efforts by showcasing the protection and rehabilitation of the critically endangered Bornean orangutan, a flagship species for forest conservation in Sabah. SPnCA plays a crucial role as a safe haven for these primates, offering a protected habitat rich in biodiversity. The site supports ongoing scientific research, habitat restoration programs, and monitoring activities to safeguard the orangutan population.

Through this collaboration, the filming will highlight Sawit Kinabalu’s Conservation and Biodiversity Unit (CBU)’s efforts in preserving and restoring natural habitats, promoting sustainable land use practices. It will also emphasize the importance of maintaining ecological balance while integrating conservation with responsible palm oil production.

Ultimately, the feature aims to raise public awareness and inspire collective action by showcasing how conservation, sustainable practices, and diplomacy can work hand in hand to protect Sabah’s wildlife and foster global partnerships for a greener future.
