KINABATANGAN: On the 27th to 28th of February 2025, the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) conducted a filming session at Sg Pin Conservation Area (SPnCA) in collaboration with North Borneo Pictures. This session was part of the production of a campaign-style video aimed at promoting the Orangutan Diplomacy initiative — an innovative effort to highlight Malaysia’s commitment to orangutan conservation while fostering international collaboration in sustainable palm oil practices.

The video will showcase SPnCA’s vital role as a sanctuary for the critically endangered Bornean orangutan, focusing on ongoing conservation efforts such as habitat restoration, population monitoring, and scientific research. It will also emphasize the collaborative work led by MPOGCF and Sawit Kinabalu’s Conservation and Biodiversity Unit (CBU) to protect these iconic primates and their natural habitats.

Beyond spotlighting the orangutans, the campaign aims to raise public awareness about the delicate balance between conservation and sustainable agriculture. By illustrating how initiatives like Orangutan Diplomacy bridge environmental stewardship and responsible palm oil production, the video hopes to inspire both local and global audiences to support these efforts.

The production also captures the beauty and biodiversity of SPnCA, reinforcing its significance as a model for conservation and sustainable land management in Sabah.
