KINABATANGAN: On February 10th and 11th, 2025, CBU in collaboration with Sabah Environmental Trust (SET) conducted the SMART 7 2.0 Training Workshop (beginner level) at the Conservation and Biodiversity Unit Office. The two-day training aimed to strengthen the practical knowledge of CBU rangers in using the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART7), focusing on its basic features and how to use it effectively for monitoring the biodiversity of Sg. Pin Conservation Area (SPnCA).

The training provided a foundational understanding of SMART7, guiding participants through its user-friendly interface and key functionalities. Hands-on training taught attendees how to track patrols, monitor biodiversity, and input field data. They were also introduced to SMART’s reporting tools, which help generate simple yet effective insights to inform conservation decisions.

By the end of the training, our rangers gained confidence in using SMART7 for their monitoring tasks. They were equipped with the knowledge to contribute more effectively to biodiversity conservation within and outside of SPnCA. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Sabah Environmental Trust (SET), for making this training such a meaningful and impactful experience for all involved. We look forward to the Expert level training session.
