BAGAHAK 1 ESTATE, LAHAD DATU: On 5th November 2024, Sawit Kinabalu’s Bagahak 1 Estate in Lahad Datu had the honor of hosting representatives from Beiersdorf and Evonik, Germany, on a field visit organized by WWF-Malaysia. This visit offered an invaluable opportunity to share the impactful progress achieved under the Sabah Landscapes Programme, a sustainable initiative funded by Beiersdorf and Evonik.
The primary goal of this visit was to offer insights into the ongoing efforts of WWF-Malaysia to engage with oil palm growers in the region, particularly around RSPO (Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil) as well as MSPO (Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil) certification. These certification schemes are integral to promote sustainable palm oil production and minimizing environmental impact.
The visit that has been done by Beiersdorf-Evonik served as a platform for exploring potential opportunities for further collaboration and aimed to strengthen partnerships that will support the continued sustainability of palm oil production in the region, aligning with companies’ commitment to responsible sourcing practices and environmental stewardship.
Through their support, Beiersdorf and Evonik continue to be key advocates for sustainable practices within the Sawit Kinabalu Group, playing an instrumental role in driving positive changes across the palm oil supply chain. Their visit underscored a shared commitment to advancing responsible production practices that benefit both the environment and the local communities.
