On October 14, 2024, the IDH Team, led by Ms. Allie Subramaniam and accompanied by Mrs. Vinita Ganesh and Ms. Beatrix Richards (NISCOPS Manager), visited the Sg Pin Conservation Area Agroforestry plot (Phase I) to review the project’s progress. This site visit was crucial as it represented a key activity in the first phase of the project. The team also discussed plans for the next project phase, expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
On the second day, the team enjoyed an early morning river cruise with project partners, including Orang Juga, KOPEL BHD, and the Danau Girang Research Centre. This was followed by a visit to the Sandau Mill in Lahad Datu to tour the mill’s operations, concluding with a stop at the Kunak Refinery.
Joining the team were Mr. Nazlan Mohamad, General Manager of the Sustainability Division, and Senior Manager (Carbon Unit) Mr. Khairul Azlan, along with five members from the Engagement Unit.
The trip emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in agroforestry and reinforced collaborative efforts among stakeholders, setting a positive direction for the upcoming project development phase.
