On 29 February 2024, Mr. Herman Matanggal, the Conservation and Biodiveristy Unit’s (CBU) first certified drone pilot – Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency (RCOC-B) trained the other CBU workers on Drone Training (Unmanned Aircraft System) at CBU Office. The training focused on the importance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and checklist for the Safe Use of Drone.

Among others, these are some of the safety tips for Drone operation:

1. Check the weather conditions

2. Make sure all devices are ready

3. Inspect for any damage

4. Plan for suitable location

5. Monitor the drone during the flight

6. Prioritize the safety of others and review your environment
